When you grow up in a close Family and do a lot of things together. Have music as a family band and play out at parties in your teenage years...with no drinking allowed....then as you marry and start raising a family, to be able to be a stay home mom, you take a job on weekends to help with the money.
It is a band that plays in clubs and bars. A lot of drinking goes on. Your husband has grown up different from you and enjoys a beer. As part of the "roadie" in the band, (being the sound man and equipment handler) and drinking more each time and being able to handle it!!! It looks like!!!
Family Night and you can take the children. On other nights that the children are at a baby sitters you start drinking earlier each evening. By the end of the night, you don't remember what you are doing and the rest of the band thinks you are so funny! It gets to the place you are not sure who drove home, or where your music things are. At last you start going to AA and ask your husband to go with you and of course, HE DOESN'T HAVE A PROBLEM, YOU DO!
You have figured out you drink because you don't want to be away from your children and would rather be doing family things with them. So you, with the help of your family and being put down by the band and husband for quiting, you move back to your home town and go to the family side of AA with a cousin, and see how it affects everyone.
The husband now sees you will not come back until both of you are off of the alcohol! You now know the band members that didn't want you to quit drinking were not real friends of yours and that you would always have to say "I am an Alcoholic" and never take another drink!!!
But your family has come through a real rough time and now are back close and enjoying a healthy life again.
Thanking the LORD each day, for LOVE and UNDERSTANDING and GIVING you the STRENGTH TO COME OUT OF THIS!
