What is the goal of Face the Tears? |
| |
The goal of Face the Tears is to create a visible reminder of the tears that flow as a result of broken promises and tragic losses linked to the toxic effects of alcohol.
These effects include: failed marriages, physical and mental abuse, injuries, birth defects (such as Fetal Alcohol Syndrome), loss of hopes, loss of dreams, loss of possibilities and DEATH.
We hope and pray that those who hear these stories will learn from them and not make the same mistakes or change their behavior before it is too late. |

Who can help? |
| |
Everyone. We need you. We need every group you belong to. Consider this project for your youth group, Eagle Scout project, school project, ladies group, Bible study group, Red Hat Society group. All can work on this project to bring awareness to the under reported negative consequences of alcohol use. |

Who can I collect handkerchiefs from? |
| |
Why not talk to the Pastor of your church, the Principal of your school, Scout Master, or the leader of organizations that you belong to. Perhaps they are willing to help. If your community is interested in creating its own local display, please let us know. |

How did the Face the Tears Project begin? |
| |
During the National WCTU Convention, in August 2003, I had the pleasure of meeting with Helen Bair Owen during a dinner meal.
Helen shared with me her desire for a book of short personal accounts of the damage alcohol has done to family life. As an example of what she had in mind, she gave me a copy of her story. Helen said, If one girl reads the book and does not marry her boyfriend who drinks, our attempt will be worth it. |
